2015 Apple Harvest Festival Schedule of Events
Friday, Saturday & Sunday October 2 - 4
 
One of Fortuna’s signature events, the 31th Annual Apple Harvest Festival, will be held on Friday October 2, Saturday October 3, and Sunday October 4. Apple Harvest has expanded to three days with the addition of the Hard Cider Tasting on Friday night.
 
FRIDAY:
Fortuna Kiwanis Presents its Hard Cider Tasting at the Fortuna Rodeo Grounds! Tickets are $25 for unlimited hard cider, and $10 for sober drivers. This event runs from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. All proceeds will benefit local non-profit Wild Souls Ranch: Equine Learning Center for At-Risk Youth. Enjoy  hard ciders, live music and good food! Sober Shuttle will be available towards the end of the night.
 
SATURDAY:
Apple Harvest features free hay wagon rides beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing to 4 p.m.  The hay wagons provide transportation to each of the seven venues hosting activities this year, including Clendenen’s Cider Works & Apple Orchard, Rohner Park, Downtown Fortuna, Volunteer Fire Department, Strongs Creek Plaza, Redwood Village Shopping Center and Ray’s Food Place.
 
Clendenen’s Cider Works
Noon to 1 p.m.   Scotia Band – Historic town band with a big sound1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  "Falling Rocks" (Roots Country and Honkey-Tonk Swing)
Clendenen’s Applewood Barbeque – Featuring “The Local Hamburger” and Big Dogs
Orchard Hayrides – tour the apple orchard with a narrated tractor hayride
Apple Tasting – taste new and vintage varieties from our orchard including Bellflower, Spitzenberg, Mutsu, and Jonagold
 
Redwood Village will be hosting its Rib Cook-Off. The ribs must incorporate apples and you can get as creative as you want (apple wood, apple glaze, apple BBQ sauce, anything apple- get creative). Set-Up is at 9am, cooking til noon with judging and serving starting at 12pm. Vendors, live music and RIBS!

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Kid friendly events and booths...petting zoo, horse & carriage rides, face painting, bounce houses, and more

Rohner Park   
9:00 am - 2:00 pm: Redwood Memorial Hospital’s Family Health & Resource Fair
Free and low-cost screenings, plus health and safety information. ~Rohner Rec. Hall~
 
11:00 am - 4:00 pm: Fortuna Middle School’s 8th Grade Class, Hot dogs, Nachos, sodas & water – Cookshack, starting at 11am

11:00 am – 4:00 pm: Bands “Malange” and “HM2”
Located at the stage area playing all your favorites.

10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Rohner Park’s Big Park Variety Sale. Everything from Jewelry and crafts to household items for sale in the grassy area of the park.

Starting at 10:00: Dutch Oven Cooking Class / Demonstrations / Tastings. A free class will be held in the grassy area beginning at 10 am followed by demonstrations and tastings.

Hydesville Community Church: Hot dog eating contest, bounce house, petting zoo, children’s games, hay bale maze, BBQ, and much more.

Depot Museum: Come in and see the new exhibits open 12 :00 pm to 4:30.

5:00 pm – 8:00pm: Public Skating at the Firemen’s Pavilion Sponsored by Fortuna Parks & Recreation. $4.

1:30 to 4:30  (Swingin’ Country Band)  Country & Old Time Rock ‘N Roll. Many food boots to include apple crisp, shaved ice, cookies, Tri tip sandwiches and much more. Main Street merchants will go outside and offer outstanding products. Many Craft boots to include pottery, jewelry, wine barrel furniture, clothing etc.
Hay wagons will transport you from Downtown to any of the 6 other event areas.
 
Fortuna Police Department Disaster Fair is taking place on 11th Street between Main and L Streets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Downtown Fortuna.  They will have a CHP Rescue helicopter, Rock Climbing Wall, U.S. Marine Corps HUMVEE and Pull Up Challenge, Humboldt Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Mobile Command Center, the American Red Cross and more.
 
The Fortuna Fire Department is having an open house at the Fire Hall from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
They will have information booths of information on Ladies auxiliary; Fire Explorers; Boy Scouts; Fire Department Membership; Disaster Preparedness including CERT Training; and Fire Prevention.  They will have displays on Fire apparatus and equipment and Antique fire apparatus.  In addition, they will have demonstrations of Jaws of Life and a Fire Prevention Trailer and, of course, Fire Truck Rides.
The Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will be selling Hot Dogs, Nachos, granola bars and candy bars, Water and Soda.  All proceeds from the sales go to benefit Families that are burned out of their homes, to support our firefighters that are out on extended calls and to offer Scholarships for college education for our Firefighter’s families.
 
Ray's Food Place 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Family fun for all ages with a pumpkin walk, dip-your-own caramel apples and face painting. There will also have a parking lot produce sale, a BBQ, and much more.
 
Strong’s Creek Plaza 10 am to 2 pm.  Lots of activities for everyone -- baked goods/fruit cups/water/hair dying (New Life Christian School); balloon animals (Shriners); bounce house/pony carousal, car wash, and face painting (FUHS safe and sober 2015); cotton candy/ice cream (Fortuna Elementary School District); HealthSport Gymnastics demo (10 a.m.); The Mill MMA Demonstrations (11:30 a.m.); Bow2toe Tumbling demonstrations; Firehouse apple cider; Mason's free digital fingerprinting; caramel apples; petting zoo (Miranda’s Rescue);

SUNDAY:
 
Sunday will be the Old Fashioned Street Fair on Main Street Downtown.  Vendors with fresh produce and handmade crafts will have their booths in this open air market.  Catch a hay wagon ride from 12th & Main Streets to Clendenen’s for tours of the orchard and apple tasting. 
 
Speeder Car Rides will be available for a round-trip excursion from Clendenen’s to 8th Street.
