From Fortuna: approx. 12 miles south on U.S. 101 • A 33-mile stretch of two-lane highway that runs parallel to U.S. Highway 101, The Avenue of the Giants is an outstanding display of virgin redwood trees and numerous dedicated groves that you can bicycle, hike or see the redwoods by car. Encounter unspoiled hiking trails right in the heart of the City of Fortuna!
The Rohner Park Trail takes hikers through nearly two miles of one of the finest mature second growth redwood forests in Northern California. Thanks to the Rohner Family and the City of Fortuna, this rare type of forest has been preserved and is easily accessible. In addition to significant redwoods, Rohner Park features a complex undergrowth of native plant life. Hikers on the Rohner Park Trail will observe plentiful wild shrubs and herbs.
